Paul
A. Lax, a member of Lax & Stevens, has nearly 30 years of experience
specializing in the representation of general contractors in claims
cases, as well as in litigation brought by owners alleging defective
construction, litigation involving terminated construction contracts,
claims involving sureties, and litigation between general contractors
and subcontractors.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Lax has handled hundreds of
contractor claims and has assisted many other contractors in a wide
variety of legal issues. He regularly represents contractor clients
in disputes with public agencies such as the California Department
of Transportation (Caltrans), the California Department of Corrections
and Rehabilitation, the University of California, school districts,
and cities and counties. He also has extensive experience with claims
on private work. With his broad understanding of construction-related
law, Mr. Lax has brought cases before state and federal courts,
the California Office of Administrative Hearings, the United States
Court of Federal Claims, the American Arbitration Association and
various Board of Contract Appeals.
